Warm weather with spring rain usually means you’ll find pesky little ants in your house. We used to have them in our kitchen two years ago until I used this DIY solution that curbs ants and can even kill them on site if you spray it directly on them and are looking for an immediate way to get them out. Since then, the ants have never returned to our kitchen. This year they’ve popped up in places like near the dog’s water bowls and the bathroom.
Anytime I use this dog safe ant spray, they go away, and don’t come back! You don’t want to spray this IN your dog’s water bowls but around the base can be fine. Just make sure none of it gets in their bowls.

DIY Dog Safe Ant Spray
- 8oz spray bottle
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar or vodka
- 1 drop of eucalyptus essential oil
- 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil
- 1-2 drops of spearmint essential oil
Mix and spray!
You can also take the essential oils on their own and put a drop along the baseboards of your home and take a towel to wipe the oil up and down the baseboard. This prevents infestations.

Thanks for a great, simple recipe that will be safe for my dog and cat. I’m always happy to find a solution to a problem that will work without harming my pets!
So glad you found it useful!
